Description

Pear Tree Cottage and The Nook is a house, now functioning as a house and cottage, dating from the first half of the 18th century. It was raised and altered in the mid-19th century and underwent further changes in the 20th century. The building is constructed from coursed, squared stone with herringbone tooling, topped with a pantile roof that has stone coping and ridge, along with stone stacks.

The structure has two storeys and three bays, with the right-hand bay comprising The Nook. There is a plinth, and 20th-century doors are located below deep lintels at the center of Pear Tree Cottage and on the left side of The Nook. Originally, the windows were chamfered mullioned windows, but they have been replaced with small-pane side-sliding sashes, including a 4-pane sash on the first floor of The Nook, all featuring herringbone-tooled lintels. The eaves have a hollow-moulded band, and there are moulded kneelers. The ridge features shouldered corniced stacks flanking the central bay. At the rear, side-sliding sashes are present.

Inside Pear Tree Cottage, the rear wall has an opposing doorway, and there are moulded joists. In the left room and at the right end, there is an inglenook fireplace with a chamfered timber bressumer.
