Description
The barn at Hayley Green Farm is a structure likely built in the late 16th century or early 17th century. It features a timber frame with sections of weatherboarding and painted brick infill, topped by an old tile half-hipped roof. The barn has a rectangular plan consisting of five framed bays, with a central gabled midstrey on the northwest side. There are 20th-century lean-to extensions on each side of the midstrey. Inside, the barn boasts a complete and high-quality timber frame, including queen post roof trusses, clasped purlins, and arch windbraces. The jowled posts are complemented by arch-braces to the tie beams, and the rafters, which are pegged to the purlins, have holes at their feet.
