Description
Woodside House is a large building that has been converted into offices. It was originally constructed in the early 19th century, with extensions added in the late 19th century and alterations made in the 20th century. The house is built of red brick in Flemish bond and features a hipped slate roof.
The building has a rectangular plan with extensions on the side and rear. It stands two storeys tall and is adorned with several chimneys that have corniced heads and Doulton pots. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, some of which have later cement, and they feature shouldered architraves and stone sills.
The garden front, which faces north-east, has four bays and a single bay extension on the right. The first floor has sash windows, while the ground floor has later long sash windows. The outer windows on each floor, part of the original structure, are set in shallow rounded bays that extend the full height of the building. The entrance, now located on the north-east return front, has a 20th-century curved hood and double panelled doors.
Inside, there is an open well staircase with barley-twist newels, a moulded handrail, and a closed string with moulded tread ends.
