Description
Old Cross House is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the 18th century, with 19th-century extensions and early 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of red brick laid in Flemish bond, featuring a plat band at the first-floor level. The roof is tiled and has a moulded wood eaves cornice, with brick coped gables supported by corbelled kneelers. There are brick chimneystacks with oversailing courses and earthenware pots on both the left and right sides of the house.
The exterior consists of two storeys and attics. The first floor has five sash windows, with the upper sashes having six panes and the lower sashes being plain glazed. These windows are recessed below rubbed flat arches, which are mostly hidden by the eaves cornice. The ground floor was rebuilt in the 1920s and features three light projecting casement bay windows with lean-to old tiled roofs on the left and right, along with a central multi-light half-glazed door. There are sidelights and a fanlight beneath a projecting wood-framed open-gabled porch. The right-hand gable is cement rendered. The roof includes three casement dormers with rendered cheeks and hipped old tile roofs.
At the rear, there are twin outshoots made of yellow brick with red dressings. These have divided plate glazed sash windows, red brick corbelled eaves, and machine tiled gabled roofs with brick stacks. The interior has been much altered, with a cellar that is brick lined and has a brick floor.
