Description
The Chestnuts, located at Nos 19 to 21 Bishops Close in Walthamstow, is a semi-detached pair of villas dating from the early 19th century or earlier, with some alterations. The exterior is finished in stucco and features a slate roof at the eaves. The buildings are three stories tall with a four-bay central block, flanked by one-story, one-window pedimented wings. These wings are connected at the front by an advanced ground storey. The façade includes pilasters with channelled rustication and a recessed entrance situated in an Ionic columnar porch to the left of the center. The windows are square-headed, with architraves above the ground floor. The outer ground floor windows are set in slightly projecting square bays, each topped with cornices and pedimental blocking courses. The windows are primarily sashed and made of plate glass. The eaves are deep and bracketed. The interior has not been inspected.
