Description
Monoux Almshouses are almshouses located on Church Hill in Walthamstow, dating from the early to mid-18th century, with some elements from the early 16th century. The building has undergone significant restoration and alterations in the 20th century, including a rebuild of the west end in 1955 by architects Braddell and Laurence. The structure features red brick on the ground floor and stucco above, topped with a steeply pitched tiled roof. It is two stories high and has nine main bays, with a jettied gabled crossing. The windows are square-headed casements with plate glass, dating from the 20th century. The doorways have doors with triplet windows inserted above them. A crosswing includes a small paned sash window on the ground floor and timber cross mullioned casements above.
