Description
1-3 St Marys Close are almshouses, possibly dating from the mid-19th century with some 18th-century elements. The building features a combination of brick and timber-framing, topped with a hipped tile roof. Below the eaves, there is a band of timber-framing arranged in square panels. The pegging indicates that the lower part of the wall has never been timber-framed. The structure is one storey high with an attic. The south wall, which faces the church, consists of five bays. The windows are timber casements, with those on the ground floor having segmental heads. The attic is illuminated by gabled dormers. There are chimneys on the front wall to the right of the second and fourth bays. Doorways are located in the north wall, each sheltered by gabled tiled hoods. The building is included for its group value.
