Description
These almshouses, located in Thaxted Churchyard, date back to the 17th century and were extensively altered in the 19th century. The structure is timber framed and plastered, topped with a red plain tile roof that is hipped at the south end. It has one storey and attics, featuring seven gabled dormers on the rear. Notable architectural details include decorative pierced bargeboards with pendants at the north end, positioned above a lancet-headed window and a square mullion and transom window with a moulded label. There is also a gabled dormer at the south end, along with red brick chimney stacks.
