Description
This building is a barn located approximately 20 meters south of New Kewferry Farmhouse. It dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century and features 20th-century weatherboarding over a timber frame. The barn has a gabled roof, although the original old tiles have been removed. It has a four-bay plan with a gabled porch on the west side and 20th-century windows inserted on the east side.
Inside, the original timber frame consists of heavy scantling with tenoned middle rails, while most of the studding is from the mid to late 19th century. The structure includes unjowled posts that are arch-braced to tie beams and wall plates, a collar-truss roof with side struts, and common rafters that are tenoned into staggered butt purlins. Additionally, a 19th-century aisle has been added to the west side, adjoining the porch.
