Description
This building is a barn located immediately northwest of St Mary's Cottage, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It features a timber frame set on a low stone plinth, with brick infill panels at the lower part and weatherboarding above. One side has old horizontal broad boards. The roof is covered with clay plain tiles. The barn has a plan consisting of three bays, with opposing cart entrances leading to a central threshing floor.
On the exterior, there are boarded double doors at the center of both the front and back, and a small later stone and brick outshut at one end. Inside, the central threshing bay is flanked by framed divisions on low brick walls. The barn has slightly jowled posts, some with cut jowls, and a three-bay tie-beam and queen-strut roof structure. It includes two tiers of tenoned or trenched purlins and a ridge-piece, with the common rafter couples largely intact.
