Description

The Gate Public House is a 17th-century building located on the north-east side of Rickmansworth Road in Northwood. It features a timber-framed left section that consists of three bays, with a red brick facade. To the right, there is a two-bay extension built in brick to closely resemble the original structure. The building stands two storeys high under a continuous tiled roof. The left part includes a first-floor band and some decorative diapering of blue headers. It has a large old end chimney and visible timber framing in the gable. The first-floor windows are horizontal sliding sashes, while the ground floor has replaced sashes with bars set beneath cambered brick arches. A modern door is positioned under a reproduction pedimented hood.
