Description
This barn, located 30 meters east-north-east of New House Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is timber framed and mostly covered in weatherboarding, with red brick gable ends that also feature weatherboarding in their upper sections. The roof is covered with pantiles. The barn consists of five bays and includes a central cart entrance. The frame is largely intact, showcasing full-height studding and arched bracing, with three of the four open trusses still retaining their arched braces. The northernmost bay was originally floored over, and there is evidence of original first-floor windows that had diamond mullions. The roof structure includes two rows of unstepped butt purlins with straight plank wind-bracing, although some rafters have been replaced.
