Description
The Weston War Memorial is a First World War memorial built in 1920, with later additions for the Second World War. It is made of grey granite and is located in the churchyard near the Church of St Peter, which is a Grade I listed building.
The memorial features a rough-hewn wheel-head cross that stands on a tapering plinth with a single-stepped base. The light grey granite is carved, and on the east face at the base, there is an attached rectangular plaque.
The main inscription, crafted in leaded lettering, reads: "IN MEMORY OF THE WESTON MEN/ WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES/ IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1919." The names of 14 men who fell during the war are inscribed on the three other faces of the plinth. Additionally, the rectangular plaque at the foot of the east face lists the names of four men who died in the Second World War.
