Description

The Statue of Venus is located to the right of the main entrance to Trent Park House. It was created around 1700, although it has a later head. In 1934, the statue was moved to Trent Park from Wrest Park in Bedfordshire by Sir Philip Sassoon. The statue stands on an ashlar plinth, which features a moulded base and cornice. The front of the plinth is intricately carved with hunting weapons, a pair of birds, and toiletry items. The statue itself depicts Venus tying a garter on her leg, which is raised on a pedestal, with a cupid at her feet.
