Description
The statue located at the north west end of the terrace at Trent Park House is an early 18th-century piece from the French school. It was brought to Trent Park in the mid-1920s by Sir Philip Sassoon, having originally come from either Stowe in Buckinghamshire or Milton Abbey in Dorset. The statue is made of marble and is set on an ashlar plinth. The rectangular plinth features a moulded base and cornice, supporting a depiction of 'Time and Opportunity' or 'Peace embracing Time'. This composition includes a female figure reclining against a lion, looking up at a standing winged male figure who holds a female figure aloft.
