Description
The obelisk on the west side of Moat Wood in Trent Park is a very tall structure made of dressed stones, standing on a square plinth. It is inscribed with the date 1702 and reads: "To the memory of the birth of George Grey, Earl of Harold, son of Henry and Sophia, Duke and Duchess of Kent." This obelisk was brought from Wrest Park in Bedfordshire. However, the date of 1702 is likely incorrect, as the Earl of Harold was actually born in 1733 and died in infancy.
