Description
A pair of sphinxes, dating from around 1700 and created by Nost, are located flanking the steps on the east side of the terrace at Trent Park House. In the mid-1920s, these lead statues were moved to Trent Park from Stowe, Buckinghamshire, by Sir Philip Sassoon. The sphinxes are set on corniced, stepped ashlar plinths, which support the statues that depict sphinxes with their heads turned inwards.
