Description
This is a gatepier with a gate located at the southeast end of Wisteria Walk in Trent Park. The gate dates from the 18th century, while the piers were built around 1915. The gate is made of cast and wrought iron and is hung from brick piers that have flat capstones topped with flower-like stone urns. The gate features two tall leaves with finials and a shaped top, along with delicate decorative scrollwork that includes spearheaded finials and central circles. It is believed that this gate was brought to Trent Park from another location for Sir Philip Sassoon, similar to other garden items in the area.
