Description
The Statue of Venus is located on the east side of the drive at Grange Farm in Tring Rural, and it dates back to 1741. The base of the statue features the inscription 'JAN VAN LOGTTAREN' on the side and rear. This statue was moved from The Green Park in Aston Clinton around 1948. It is carved from stone and depicts a larger-than-lifesize standing figure of Venus, draped and positioned before a large scallop shell, accompanied by a winged child, which is now headless. The statue stands on a moulded bluestone plinth with concave corners. It is part of a matched pair with the statue of Adonis, and a contemporary plinth is located nearby.
