Description

TRING RURAL CHAPEL LANE SP 8915 (North side) Long Marston 8/119 Old Church Cottage - GV II House. C16, early C19 E extension. Timber frame with painted brick-on-edge infill, W end has painted brick ground floor and tilehung gable. Steep thatched roof with scalloped ridge. E extension in painted brick with white weatherboarding to 1st floor. Slate pitched roof. Lean- to painted brick garage at E end with lean-to tiled roof. A 2-storeys, 3-bays crosswing of a house presumably formerly extending to N. W end has underbuilt jetty with jowled supporting post exposed in S wall. Taller 2-storeys E extension faces S. Crosswing has internal chimney emerging in N roofslope, and 2 windows to each floor. Flush casement windows with small panes 4-light and 5-light to ground floor. Eyebrow dormer at eaves. E extension has one window to each floor and 6-panel door on left with flat moulded hood on shaped brackets. Recessed 2-light Yorkshire sliding casements on ground floor with segmental arch and small panes. Internal gable chimney on E. Low extensions on N.
