Description
No. 16 Great College Street is a terraced house built around 1720-1722. It features brown brick with red brick dressings on the flanks and center, topped with a tiled roof. The house has three storeys raised on a basement, along with a dormered attic. The façade includes three windows, with the central bay slightly projecting. The entrance is approached by a short flight of steps, and the doorway is set back in a segmental arched recess. The windows have recessed glazing bar sashes beneath segmental light red brick arches and dressed jambs, with stuccoed reveals. A brick plat band runs below the parapet, which has coping. The property is adorned with wrought iron area railings that have urn finials, and it retains its original lead rainwater head and downpipe. Inside, the house preserves most of its original fielded panelling, complete with box cornices, and features a well-crafted cut and carved string turned baluster staircase with ramped moulded handrails.
