Description

No. 7 The Street is a house with a 16th century core that was remodeled in the early 19th century. It features a timber frame that is encased at the front in early 19th century red brick, with rusticated quoins made of gault brick. The dressings are also of gault brick, and there is a vertical band connecting the reveals of the upper storey windows to those below. The roof is covered with plain tiles and the house has two storeys with three windows. The early 19th century small-pane sash windows have flush frames and flat arches made of gauged brick. The entrance doorway, also from the early 19th century, has a panelled door that is half-glazed with small panes, and is framed by a broad rusticated and keyed architrave with a pediment. Originally, the house had a long-wall jetty that extended over the street, with double-ogee moulded members on the first floor.
