Description

The Co-op and Hairdressers is a shop with accommodation above, likely dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features a timber frame that is encased in mid-19th century gault brick at the front. The building has a plaintiled roof and a 19th-century end chimney made of gault brick. It is two storeys high and has a three-cell plan. The main range has four windows, with a 19th-century extension to the right that has a slated roof and is two windows wide. The windows are small-pane sashes with flat arches made of gauged brick, and there is a 19th-century six-panelled entrance door. The shop has large flat-roofed bay windows that were added in the late 19th or early 20th century. The interior has not been examined.
