Description
No. 3 The Street is a house built in two sections in the early 16th century. The left section was originally part of No. 1 The Street, while the right section was part of a house on the site of No. 5, which was demolished and rebuilt in the 17th century. The building is timber-framed and has been encased at the front in early 19th century gault brick, featuring a parapet. It has a slated roof, which was once thatched or covered with plain tiles. The house is two storeys high and has three windows, including a central dummy window. The early 19th century windows are small-pane sashes with flat arches made of gauged brick. The entrance features an early 19th century doorway with a six-panelled door, where the upper four panels are fielded and beaded. Inside, the right section boasts richly-moulded early 16th century ceiling joists and beams.
