Description
No 1 Barton Street is a terrace house built around 1722, with an early 19th-century refronting. It is constructed of stock brick and features a tiled roof. The building has three storeys, a basement, and a dormered mansard, and it is two windows wide. The ground floor includes a semicircular arched doorway on the left, accessed by a flight of steps, with a door made of six fielded panels and fanlights. The windows are recessed glazing bar sashes set under flat gauged arches. The building has a parapet with coping and wrought iron area railings topped with flambe torch finials. It is part of an exceptionally well-preserved early 18th-century group of houses, alongside Cowley and Lord North Street.
