Description
No. 8 Barton Street is a terrace house dated 1909, designed by Horace Field. It features red brick and Portland stone construction with a tiled roof, showcasing a style reminiscent of late 17th century town houses. The building has three storeys, a basement, and attic dormers, and is five and a half windows wide. The central doorway is framed by a stone Corinthian column doorcase with an archivolt arch leading to a fanlight. The windows are flush framed wood mullioned and transomed leaded iron casements, set beneath flat gauged red brick arches with red brick dressings. The central first-floor window is adorned with a stone segmental pediment. A wooden eaves cornice runs along the top, and there are wrought iron area railings with flambé torch finials.
