Description

No. 15 Cowley Street is a terrace house dating from circa 1722. It is constructed of brown brick with a tiled roof. The house is three storeys high, with a basement and a dormered mansard. It has a symmetrical facade of three windows. The right-hand entrance features a wooden architrave doorcase with carved consoles supporting a cornice hood. The door itself consists of six fielded panels. Flush-framed sash windows are set within flat, gauged brick arches. A wood cornice band runs across the heads of the ground floor windows, and there are brick play bands and a parapet with coping. Wrought iron area railings are present, finished with flambé torch finials. The building forms part of a well-preserved group of early 18th century housing, found also in Barton and Lord North Streets.
