Description

No. 14 Cowley Street is a terrace house built around 1722. It is constructed of brown brick with a tiled roof and has three storeys, a basement, and a dormered mansard. The house has a three-window front. The entrance is on the right-hand side, featuring a wooden architrave doorcase with carved consoles supporting the cornice. The door itself consists of six fielded panels. The windows are flush-framed sash windows with glazing bars, set under flat, gauged brick arches. Brick plat bands delineate the first and second floors, and a parapet with coping tops the building. Wrought iron area railings, finished with urn finials, are present. The building forms part of a remarkably well-preserved group of early 18th-century houses, also including Barton and Lord North Streets.
