Description

No 1 Park Place Villas is a villa built in the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of brick and rendered, topped with Welsh slate roofs. The building has three storeys and a basement, featuring a tall off-centre turret that contains the entrance. To the left is a single-bay wing, and to the right is a three-bay wing, all designed in an Italianate style.

The entrance is marked by a projecting pilastered porch that holds double doors with an overlight, and there is a balustrade above. Above the porch, there is a casement window framed in stucco with a pediment supported by consoles. The top stage of the villa features a triple group of keyed round-arched windows, while a modillion cornice and hipped roof complete the design.

On the side wings, the left wing has a tripartite sash window with a cornice, while the right wing has sashes set in architraves with cornices on consoles. The first floor contains sashes with glazing bars in architraves, and there is a sill band on the second floor with casements above. The building was undergoing restoration at the time of inspection.
