Description

No 7 Albemarle Street is a terraced town house built in 1732. It features a brown brick exterior with a stuccoed ground floor and a slate roof. The building has four storeys, a basement, and a dormered attic, and is five bays wide, flanked by giant pilasters. The stucco ground floor has banded rustication, with a doorway to the left of centre framed by an architrave surround and topped with a cornice on consoles. The revealed sash windows, which do not have glazing bars, are set under segmental red brick arches with keystones, and the upper floors have red brick dressings. The second-floor windows have aprons below the sills. There is a stone dentil cornice above the second floor and a brick plat band below the parapet. Early 19th-century cast iron balconettes adorn the first floor. Inside, the house retains an oval staircase hall with a wrought iron balustrade leading up to the first floor, where there is a galleried landing. The interior also features some fine statuary marble and carved wood chimney pieces, complete with original grates.
