10, Chesterfield Street W1

This terrace house, located at 10 Chesterfield Street in Westminster, dates from around 1800. It is constructed of brown brick and features a slate roof. The building has four storeys, a basement, and a dormered mansard, with a width of four windows.

On the ground floor, there is a doorway positioned to the left, featuring a six-panel door that is flanked by Tuscan columns in antis. These columns support an entablature beneath a semicircular fanlight. At the impost level, a string course connects to similarly arched ground floor windows, which have sashes without glazing bars and are recessed for one order. The upper floors display revealed sashes under gauged flat arches.

Notable architectural details include a stone plat band and sill band at the first floor, a band cornice above the second floor, and a parapet with coping. There are cast iron balconettes on the first and second floors. The building retains its original lead rainwater heads and downpipes on both sides of the front. Additionally, there are cast iron area railings and standards with link extinguishers, although these have been largely renewed.
