Description

TQ 3080 NW CITY OF WESTMINSTER NEW ROW, WC2 72/77 (south side) 15.1.73 No. 3 G.V. II Terrace house with shop. Late c,17, altered c.1840-50. Stucco faced, flat roof. Detailing eclectically combines modest Italianate with vaguely Jacobethan features. 4 storeys, set back mid C.20 penthouse attic. 3 windows wide. Mid C.20 shop front under coved fascia. 1st and 2nd floors have nearly flush framed exposed box frame glazing bar sashes; those on 1st floor with lay lights over window heads screened by geometric patterned piercedwork, flanking pilaster strips with shell ornamented shaped brackets framing the laylights and carrying the shallow 2nd floor balcony with iron railing; the 2nd floor sashes in eared architraves with cambered keystoned heads (probably dressing of original openings). 3rd floor has 2-light glazing bar sash with bracket headed divider and flankers, in shallow segmental arched eared architrave.
