Description
Nos. 4 and 5 New Row are terrace houses with shops that date back to the late 17th century, although their fronts were rebuilt in the mid-20th century. The buildings are constructed of brown brick with red brick dressings and feature slate roofs. They rise to four storeys with a setback penthouse attic and each house is three windows wide. The ground floor has later 20th-century shop fronts, while the upper floors are adorned with flush framed glazing bar sashes set beneath flat gauged red brick arches. There are brick plat bands and a parapet with coping. These houses are included for their group interest in New Row, which was laid out in the 1630s as part of the Bedford Estate development of Covent Garden.
