Description

2 and 2A New Row is a terrace house with a shop, dating from the early 19th century, likely a rebuild or refronting of a 17th or 18th century house. The building is constructed of stock brick and has a concealed roof. It is four storeys high and two windows wide. The ground floor contains a later 20th-century shop front, and a plain, square-headed doorway is located to the right. The upper floors feature recessed sash windows. Those on the first and second floors have stucco architraves and console bracketed cornices on the first floor, while the third-floor sashes are set within flat, gauged arches. A stucco cornice and blocking course tops the facade. The building is listed for its group value as part of a street laid out in the 1630s as part of the development of the Bedford Estate in Covent Garden.
