Description
No. 6 Stanhope Gate is a terraced town house built around 1760, with some Edwardian alterations. It features a brown brick exterior with a stone-faced ground floor and a slate roof. The building has four storeys, a basement, and a dormered mansard roof. It is four windows wide, with the right-hand windows spaced wider apart.
The entrance includes an enclosed stone porch with a rusticated semicircular arched doorway, which has engaged columns on the jambs. The windows are recessed sashes, with those on the upper floors having stuccoed reveals beneath flat gauged arches. A stone cornice is present above the second floor, and there is an attic parapet with coping. The first floor has a stone balustraded balcony that extends over the porch, and there are cast iron area railings. The building was rebuilt behind its facade between 1969 and 1971.
