Description
No. 4 Curzon Square is a terraced mansion built between 1878 and 1880 by E.A. Gruning, replacing a pair of late 18th-century houses. The building features a Portland ashlar facade and a slate roof, showcasing a heavy classical style. It stands four storeys high with a basement and is four windows wide. A central two-storey enclosed porch is supported by engaged columns. The windows are architraved sash types with cornices on consoles. The mansion has a heavy cornice and a balustered parapet. The rear elevation, which faces Park Lane, is bowed and canted. Inside, there is elaborately heavy classical detailing, including a spacious stone staircase. The building underwent alterations in 1938 by Gordon Jeeves.
