Description
No. 9 Curzon Place is a town house located at the corner with Curzon Street, built around 1750-1760, with some alterations. The building is constructed of stock brick and has a slate roof. It stands four storeys tall with a basement and features three windows across the front, plus a blind splay to the right. The entrance is located in the third bay to the right and consists of a six-panel door set in panelled reveals, topped with a fanlight that has an inverted looped fan pattern. This entrance is framed by wooden Ionic columns with dosserets that support a bracketed open pediment.
Above the entrance, there is a stuccoed canted bay window that extends through the first and second floors, complete with a parapet coping. The windows are recessed sashes without glazing bars, set under flat gauged arches. There are plat bands and sill bands at the first floor, as well as a bracketed cornice above the second floor. The property also features cast iron area railings. Although the interior has been significantly altered, some rooms still retain their bracketed cornices.
