Description

66 and 68 Park Street are a pair of end-of-terrace houses located in the City of Westminster. Originally constructed as a single house around 1729, they were heightened, refronted, and converted into two separate houses in 1845-46. The buildings are faced with stucco and topped with a slate roof, standing four storeys high with a basement. Each house has a front that is two windows wide, featuring flanking giant pilasters above the ground floor and at the returns. The doorways are pilastered and have rectangular fanlights to the left. The ground floor windows are tripartite, while the upper floors have recessed sash windows with glazing bars set in architraves, with the first-floor windows having eared detailing. The giant pilasters support a crowning dentil cornice and a blocking course. The slightly advanced ground floor is finished with a cornice that accommodates individual cast iron balconettes. These houses are included for their group interest as part of the early surviving terrace on Park Street.
