Description

This is a corner terrace house located in Upper Brook Street, dating from 1730-32 and altered in 1829. It is stucco-faced with a slate roof. The house is three storeys high, with a basement and dormered mansard. It has four windows wide, with the right-hand bay slightly wider and a three-window return to Park Street. The ground floor is channelled, featuring an entrance in the second bay from the left, with a six-panel door set within a recessed architrave and a rectangular fanlight above. The windows are flat-arched recessed glazing bar sashes, with those nearest the corner, on the return, being blind. A plat band runs above the ground floor, and the house has a parapet with coping. Early 19th-century iron area railings are present. The interior retains simple early 19th-century features, including the staircase, and was redecorated by Syrie Maugham in 1936.
