Description

This is a circa 1729 terraced house on Park Street, London, originally constructed by John Barnes, a bricklayer. The house is built of brown brick with red brick detailing around the windows; the ground floor is rendered and the roof is concealed. It originally had a basement and three storeys, designed for two windows width. A circa-20th-century pilastered doorway has been added to the left. The flush framed sash windows are set within flat, gauged red brick arches. A crowning parapet cornice tops the building. A circa-19th-century cast iron balcony is present, as are area railings with spearhead urn finials. The interior is largely original with fully panelled rooms, a passage hall, an angle fireplace closet wing, and a dog-leg staircase with turned balusters and column newels. Box cornices are also present.
