Description

This is a circa 1729 terraced house located on Park Street, London, designed by John Barnes, a bricklayer. Early 19th-century alterations were made to the front facade. The building is constructed of brown brick with a concealed roof and extends over four storeys and a basement (the top floor being an early 19th-century addition). It has a width of three windows.

The left-hand entrance features an original panelled door, but with an early 19th-century fanlight and a painted stone architrave altered to a basket-handle arched head. The recessed sash windows have glazing bars and are set within flat-gauged brick arches. Stucco architraves were added to the ground, first, and second floors in the early to mid-19th century. The building has a plain parapet coping, and wrought iron area railings with urn finials are present.

The interior remains largely unaltered and is fully panelled. It includes a passage hall and a full-height closet wing with angle fireplaces. A dog-leg closed string staircase features turned balusters and column newels. The panelled rooms have bolection chimney pieces, double-panelled overmantels, and box cornices.
