Description
Nos 41 and 42 Dover Street is a terrace house, likely from the 18th century, which was refaced around 1830 to 1840. The building is stuccoed, featuring a rusticated ground floor and a slate roof. It stands five storeys tall with a basement and is eight windows wide. The central porch is supported by fluted Greek Doric columns and has a deep entablature. The windows are revealed sash types without glazing bars, with those on the first and second floors adorned with friezes and cornices. The attic storey has segmental arched windows. There is a stucco cornice above the third floor, and the building has a parapet with a cornice and blocking course. A mid-19th century cast iron balcony spans the first floor, and there are cast iron area railings.
