Description

Nos. 49 and 51, Upper Montagu Street are a pair of terraced houses dating from approximately 1790 to 1800, built as part of the Portman Estate development. The houses are constructed of stock brick with concealed slate roofs. They are four storeys high and two windows wide. Mid-20th century shop fronts occupy the ground floor. The upper floors contain recessed sash windows with glazing bars, set within flat, gauged red brick arches. A stucco plat band marks the first floor. The buildings have parapets with stone copings. They are included in the register primarily for their group value.
