2-12 Halkin Arcade And 27 And 28 Motcomb Street And 11A West Halkin Street

This building is a shopping arcade located at 2-12 Halkin Arcade, including 27 and 28 Motcomb Street and 11A West Halkin Street, dating from around 1830. It is constructed of stucco and has three storeys with eight bays. The first, third, fourth, fifth, and seventh bays are slightly set forward. There is a Greek Doric porch with coupled columns at the fourth bay. The ground floor features windows that have likely been widened, with square-headed sashes and glazing bars. The windows are corniced, with rosettes on the frieze, and those on the first floor are pedimented. A giant order of pilasters connects the first and second floors between the bays, and the cornice appears to have been simplified. The parapet is also present. The rear of the building facing Motcomb Street is noteworthy, featuring three-storey arched windows that were designed to provide light to former first-floor bazaars.
