Shopping arcade. c1880, incorporating remains of a C16 house and a C18 house and shop; C20 alterations. Market place front, early and mid C18, colourwashed brick with stucco dressings. Roof not visible. Side wall stack. Rusticated quoins, first and second floor bands linked to the window keystones, coped parapet. 3 storeys; 3 window range of plain sashes. Second floor has a central sash flanked by single blanks. Ground floor has to left an arcade opening with inscribed lintel and to right a restored late C18 canted wooden bay window with 3 transomed lights. Arcade has continuous single and double wooden shopfronts, some of them restored, with reeded pilasters and scroll brackets to cornices. Fully glazed roof with traceried cast iron trusses. Shops 14 and 15 at north east end incorporate a C16 truss and close studded wall.
