Description
No 1 Halkin Place is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is built of stucco and has four storeys plus a mansard attic and a basement. The building is two windows wide, with the lower two storeys connected by giant pilasters, while the upper two storeys are treated as an attic with giant pilaster strips. There is a main cornice between the storeys and a subsidiary cornice above the fourth floor. The windows are square-headed, with sash designs and some glazing bars. The first floor features French windows and a cast iron balcony. The square-headed doorway has a fanlight and a door that dates from around 1900. This house is one of a pair with No 3.
