Description

This is an early 19th-century terrace of houses located on the north side of Commercial Road. The buildings are constructed of stock brick with a coped parapet and a stucco band course that runs along the sill height of the first floor. The roofs are slate-covered. The central and end pairs of houses both project. The terrace is three storeys high with a basement, and each house originally had two windows. These windows feature gauged flat arches and painted reveals, with sash windows containing vertical glazing bars. Number 495 has a later, larger ground-floor window with a red brick surround. The doorways are recessed and arched, with concave stucco archivolts and plain fanlights. Most of the houses have panelled doors, with exceptions at numbers 507, 513, and 515. The ground floor of number 505 has channelled stucco. Numbers 495 to 529 (odd) form a group with the listed buildings in Albert Gardens.
