The East End Maternity Hospital And Railings (Late C19 Extension Not Listed)

The East End Maternity Hospital, located at No. 396 Commercial Road, is an early 19th-century building constructed of yellow stock brick. It features a cornice and a stucco blocking course above the western half, along with a stucco band above the first floor. The building stands three storeys tall with dormers and basements, and it has six windows, all of which are unbarred sashes with gauged flat arches. The first-floor windows are set in recessed brick arches with stucco bands at the impost height. The entrance includes a doorway with a bracketed pediment, and there is a clock on the facade. Additionally, wrought iron railings surround the property. Nos. 396 to 410 (even) are part of a group.
