Description
Number 235 is a house built between 1810 and 1840, constructed of brick in Flemish bond with a hipped slate roof. It has two storeys and dormers above a basement, featuring a three-window range. All openings are flat-arched, with windows that have gauged brick lintels. The entrance is located at the center, accessed by steps, and features a decorative overlight set within a Doric prostyle porch that includes an entablature and blocking course. The ground-floor windows are adorned with cast-iron balconettes in a Greek Revival style. The center range of the house projects slightly, and there are giant brick pilasters at the corners that lead to a cornice string. Above, there is a narrow attic storey with three blind rectangular windows, projecting boxed eaves, and two flat-arched dormers. A second entrance is located on the right side, accessible by a flight of stairs. The interior has not been inspected. The property includes handrails to the steps, and a single-storey structure to the left is not of architectural interest and is not included in this listing. This building forms a group with Nos 223-233 (odd) and 237-241 (odd).
