Description
Number 52 is a house dating from the early 19th century, with alterations to the eaves and doorway made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and has a slate roof. The building has three storeys above cellars and features three bays. The windows are sashed without glazing bars and are topped with rubbed brick flat arches. The doorway, located in the left-hand bay, has a painted stone or stucco surround with flanking lights, a bracketed cornice, and a blocking course. Above the six-panel door, which has raised moulded borders, is a semicircular overlight. The facade is finished with a timber modillion gutter cornice, and there are chimneys at both the left and right ends. The interior has not been inspected, but records indicate that the staircase was rebuilt around 1850. The basement area is enclosed by iron railings on low stone copings.
